Temple of Leah in Cebu City

Passionate and looking for a tourist spot full of art and dedication, Temple of Leah, is the most talked and most visited tourist spot in Cebu City, Philippines. This temple was constructed symbolizing the undying love of Teodorico Adarna, who is a business magnate in Cebu to his wife, Leah Villa Albino-Adarna. Teodorico Adarna by the way is the grandfather of sexy actress Ellen Adarna. Teodorico is known to be the owner of Queensland motels here in the queen city of the south, Cebu.  It is the newest attraction in Cebu because of its eye-catching architecture and impressive views of Cebu City. Some tourist or locals dubbed this temple as the little “Taj Mahal” in Cebu. Inspired of Roman architecture, visiting this temple is like being transported to European countries.

Temple of Leah was constructed in the year 2012 A.D as a symbol of Teodorico’s undying love and his ceaseless devotion to Leah, as he noted in his Facebook page. It is located in Roosevelt Street, Barangay Busay, Cebu City near Lantaw Restaurant in Busay and Mountain View Park. It is managed by the Adarna family. As what Teodorico stated in his Facebook fan page, he adopted an architectural and structural design that can withstand time and still be appreciated for a millennium so this Temple will become a landmark of Cebu City where future generations of the Adarna clan coming from her can come and trace their roots and heritage. This temple is open to the public, giving the tourists or locals a chance to witness a mesmerizing attraction and a taste of Roman themed architecture.

Entering the temple, you can see exquisite designs of colossal figures of ancient Romans engraved on the stones. The lobby is surrounded with full-sized maidens made of porcelains positioned everywhere by the rails. At the middle of the lobby is a fountain with the naked maidens and horses. There are benches found along the sides of the balcony so guests can relax after discovering the astonishing tourist attraction. The temple is not like the other temple we know. It is a temple dedicated only to Leah, the wife of Teodorico. Teodorico made this temple possible to give his future offspring a glance to who Leah is. Inside the temple, from the bottom of the stairways to the last step, there sits the statue of Leah, a 9ft-bronze with writings carved on the bronze plated stone. Below the throne is a beautifully words describing Leah as a woman having innate beauty, poise and genteelness. Surely, this temple is going to be a landmark of Cebu and the first ever temple made out of love.

To get there, from downtown, you can ride a jeepney to JY Square and the fare is Php 7 only. After dropping off at JY square, you can ride another jeepney to Busay and the fare is Php 9. You can tell the driver that you are going to Temple of Leah. If you are an adventurous person, you can also ride a “Habal-habal” (motorcycle) from JY Square to the tourist spot. The fare is Php 50 per person but it depends on how you are going to bid against the motorcycle drivers. If you are a good bidder then the fare will probably go down. If you don’t want any hassles, then you can ride a taxicab with a regular flag down rate of Php 40 and Php 3.50 for every succeeding 500 meters or waiting time per 90 seconds. Of course, you can also hire a van rental and we highly recommend JLC Trading van rentals. JLC trading van rentals is the best van rentals in Cebu. Not only that their drivers are knowledgeable and friendly, their van also has a free wifi on board.

When using a private car or a van rental (JLC trading van rentals is highly recommended), there is a parking fee of Php 100 inside the temple of Leah for limited slots only but you can park for free outside the temple. The entrance fee is Php 50 per person and the temple is open to the public 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. The Temple of Leah also accepts Pre-nuptial photo shoots or any kind of photo shoots for Php 2,500. You can bring your own food with you but there are also food stalls stationed near the entrance of the lobby. There are tables and chairs where you can enjoy both eating and the wonderful city view of Cebu.

A tip for an enjoyable and unforgettable visit in this temple is to bring a camera with you. Never ever forget your camera especially a smart phone to update it instantly on social media. You can take a zillion photos in this temple and you can brag like you are in another country. You are not going to regret visiting this temple, as it brings a different kind of experience for you.
