Simala Shrine of Sibonga Cebu

Simala Shrine - Monastery of the Holy Eucharist in Sibonga Cebu


Simala - Lindogon Church also known as the Miraculous Mama Mary Shrine, Simala Shrine or Simala Church is a castle like church located at the Lindogon, Simala, Sibonga Cebu Province in Marian Hill. The shrine was built in 1998 by the Marian Monks from Pampanga after the occurrences of several miraculous events including the Mama Mary's shedding of tears. Because of the miracles, Simala Shrines become so popular for Catholic and Non Catholic tourist and devotees. Many devotees write their prayer requests and who their prayers were granted. Devotees can also line up to the prayer room or little a candle. Aside from the ordinary candles, they have colored candles available for sale if you wish to pray for a specific purpose.

Colored Candles and its meaning:
Gold – Healing (good health, recovery, spiritual, family tree)
Green – Prosperity/Success (exam, study, financial, business)
Blue – Perseverance (employment, career, assignment, promotions)
Violet – Achievement (plans in life, struggles, endeavors, journey, voyage)
Red – Love (unity, friendship, engagement, family)
Yellow – Peace (courage, strength, hope)
White – Purity (enlightenment, guidance, right path)
Orange – Reconciliation (sweetheart, wife, husband, enemy, family)
Pink – Thanksgiving/Happiness/Joy (spiritual, physical)
Black – Souls (forgiveness, pardon)
Brown – Vocation (marriage bond, God’s servant, single life)
Gray – Deliverance (bad ways, things, spirits)
Cream – Conversion/Faith (children, household, couples)

Schedule of Masses in Simala Shire.
Monday to Friday : 12:00 Noon
Saturday: 10:30 AM
Sunday: 12:00 Noon and 3:30PM
Every 13th of the Month: 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM


Getting there to Simala Shrine is easy.  Take a ride to South Bus Terminal in Cebu City just near the Land Transportation Office of Cebu Region 7 or near Emall/ Elizabeth Mall. From there take a Ceres bus or other bus company to Sibonga or Oslob via Liloan Port and ask conductor to drop you at the Simala. From there take either Tricycle or Habal-habal or a motorcycle. You can also have our van rentals JLC Trading  which will cost 3,700 Php for the Round trip transfer from Cebu City- Simala- Cebu City. The travel time from Cebu City to Simala Shine will take you around 2 - 3 hours.


Please take note for the following which are not allowed when visiting the Simala Church. No sleeveless, tube, short blouse, short and miniskirts, fitting and transparent pants, smoking and alcoholic drinks, loud noise or shouting, flash of camera, and be sure to remove footwear before entering the Prayer Room. They are very strict about the dress code when entering the holy place.
